How Hypopressive Training Works

 

Leakage

If the muscles are weakened while intra abdominal pressure is high, leakage can occur.

Hypopressive training works by reducing intra abdominal pressure while strengthening the muscles and connective tissue in the core and pelvic floor.

Abdominal separation

In hypopressive training, we work with the deep core muscles, the corset muscles, and the connective tissue. As these structures become stronger, separated abdominal muscles are drawn back together. This is something we can also observe during the exercises themselves.

Prolapse

During the vacuum breath (apnea), ultrasound shows that the uterus, bladder, and intestines are lifted upward. Those who have prolapse can often feel it being lifted back into place while they train. Over time, for most people, the prolapse becomes less and less noticeable.

About Me and the Course

Hi, my name is Anita Wiig. I hold a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, I’m the author of the book Mamma og magen (Norwegian book), and I’m a certified trainer in both hypopressive training and Low Pressure Fitness. I’m also a pre and postnatal coach.

In addition to this, I’m a mom to two girls, aged 8 and 10.

After giving birth to my second child, my body felt completely different. I had abdominal separation, pelvic pain, and a heavy downward pressure. One of the things that bothered me the most was how weak my abdominal muscles felt. My stomach still looked pregnant, and when I tried to tighten my abs, nothing happened.

Hypopressive training was my turning point. Today, my body functions even better than it did before I had children.
